Poor People's Adjustment and Coping Mechanisms
The continued and increasing gap between
poor people's levels of income (their capabilities)
and the cost of accessing their basic needs, prompted
the Centre to carry out a research on how they cope
in such instances.
The Adjustment and Coping Mechanisms
study was conducted in 2006 by the Social Conditions
Research Programme, with a focus on poor people's coping
strategies with regard to access to food, health facilities,
clean water, cooking and lighting energy, housing and
education.
